Biomega-7 is made from whole sea buckthorns by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction - a manufacturing technique gentler than cold pressing. This ensures that the fatty acids and other bioactive compounds (collected from the natural pulp and seeds of the sea buckthorns) are preserved and concentrated.
 
Sea buckthorn oil is unique as it is rich in varieties of fatty acids (omega 3, 6, 7, 9) and is one of the few plant sources rich in omega-7s such as palmitoleic acid. In addition, it contains vitamins and minerals, flavonoids and complex lipids known to be beneficial for health. 
 
It is safe for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
 
Several studies support the efficacy of sea buckthorn oil for a variety of conditions. In particular, palmitoleic acid (omega-7) has been shown to support mucous membrane health (e.g. vagina tract). Alpha-Linolenic acid (omega-3) may also improve dry eye symptoms. Linoleic acid (omega-6), which is a component of the skin, has been shown to nourish the skin, reduce acne, hydrate and strengthen dry skin. 
 
Aside from skin conditions, sea buckthorn oil may provide cardiovascular benefits with the diversity of fatty acids, including promoting healthy blood vessels and cholesterol levels. Soothing effects on the gastrointestinal tract have also been demonstrated.
